So I finally, finally read this book! I first heard about this book when I was younger, but have held off reading it because I wasn't sure if it would hold my attention. But this book did just that!

SUMMARY

Holes is about a young, over- weight pre teen named Stanley Yelnats and his time spent at Camp Green lake, a juvenile detention center. Stanley was sent to camp because he was seen with Clyde Livingston's (Sweet Feet) famous baseball shoes. Stanley was falsely accused of the crime and sent to Green Lake to "rebuild his character." Stanley informs his audience that the real reason why he was blamed for the crime is because of the curse his great- great- great grandfather mistakenly put on his family. The book also includes a very complex group of campers, all who go by nicknames, and the mysterious, devious deeds of the two camp counselors and the warden.

REVIEW

Well, to be fair, I went into this book with fairly low expectations because from the summary, the plot seemed bland, and the characters seemed to be predictable. But this book was exceptionally amazing. The plot was not at all dull, and I still marvel at myself for ever thinking that. And same goes for the characters. All of the characters were complex and unique; I loved reading about all of them. I mentioned in my last review of Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Mass that I love authors who are able to include more than one story in their plot. And Sachar does this without a hitch. Sachar not only gives us the present day run-down of camp Green Lake; he also informs us of the history of the town by telling the tale of what it was 150 years age. I honestly loved reading about both stories.

CONCLUSION

I am giving this book five out of five stars. This book is perfect for all ages, no matter what your favorite reading genre is. Overall, this book is an incredibly fun read with a dynamic plot, awesome characters, and, you

guessed it, buried treasure.
