SUMMARY

Second Chance Summer follows the story of Taylor Edwards, a seventeen year old girl and the middle child of two exceptional siblings. The Edwards family used to spent their entire summers up at their cabin in Lake Phoenix until five summers ago when everyone in their family became preoccupied. Now, five years later, Taylor's family decides to spend one last summer together after her father receives terrible news.

REVIEW

My overall review for this book is five out of five stars. Before I get too ahead of myself, lets discuss the characters. I absolutely adored all of the characters. I found the main protagonist Taylor to be extremely relate able. But what I loved most about these characters is that they made me laugh out loud. Don't get me wrong, this book is heart-breakingly beautiful, but I loved how the comic relief in this book balanced it out. As for the plot, I feel I can sum it up in one word: Beautiful. And as for the romance, I actually really enjoyed the romance in this book. I soon found myself drawn to the love interest, and I was thrilled when they ended up together; which doesn't happen a whole lot, since so many YA novels include romance. And finally, for the writing, it was breathtaking. Matson was merciless on the feels, and it is an emotional read, but it is well worth it.

Conclusion

I highly, highly recommend this book to everyone. It is a magnificent contemporary novel about love, family, and second chances. Overall, it is the ideal summer read.
