SUMMARY
Hollow City takes place right where its preceder left out. Hunted by their enemies, the stars of this series embark on a dangerous journey to London, England in search of the ymbryne Miss Wren, the only ymbryne not captured by wights. Along the way, our young heroines realize that not only does the life of their beloved headmistress Peregrine lie in their hands, but that the fate of peculiardom rests heavily on their shoulders.
REVIEW
My review for this book is five out of five stars. I usually find myself a bit worried going into the second book of a series because of the expectation that the first book set. And since the first novel of this series was incredible, I was worried that this book wasn't going to live up to its preceder. But Hollow city does not just live up to Miss peregrines Home For Peculiar Children, it was (in my opinion) even better than it. Hollow City really gave us a deeper look into the Peculiar Children's past, and really just gave us the opportunity to learn more about all of them. Riggs even gave us more wonderful peculiar children in this novel, and we also met some new fantastic side characters to add to the mix. Needless to say, to sum it up for the main characters, Hollow City just made me love them even more. As for the plot, I found it to be a thrill ride from the first page to the last. These children are being thrust into one loop after the next, all while being pursued by the terrifying wights. But with everything that went down in this book, I never found it too overwhelming, I really felt everything fit in together very nicely. This is one of those rare novels where everything in the plot is able to balance itself out. For example, there was plenty of comic relief provided (mainly by Enoch) to lighten up those suspenseful moments; and there were also those heartfelt moments right when you needed them. The writing style works side by side with black and white photos that do an excellent job of representing the story.
CONCLUSION
I am very pleased with the direction that this series is going in; with this rate Library of souls is looking to be a highly satisfying read. If you haven't started this series yet, then you definitely should pick up Miss peregrine's home for Peculiar Children as soon as possible. And for those of you who are looking to start Hollow City, then you will not be disappointed by this read!
