REVIEW
My Overall review for this book is three and a half stars out of five. I did find this read enjoyable, but I did have some issues with it. Let's begin with the characters. Our main character Thomas did not sit well with me; and needless to say, is the biggest issue I have with this book. I found Thomas to be a very frustrating and aggravating character at times. For example, Thomas repeatedly asked his fellow gladers how they all came to be in the glade and who put them there, even though the characters obviously don't know either and told Thomas just as much. I also had issues with the other characters. i really didn't see much of a personality in any of those, except for Chuck. i also would would have liked to see the characters working together a bit more. Since they have all been trapped together for two years, one would think they would be fairly close and work together efficiently. But it isn't until Thomas comes along that they all start to collaborate on the puzzle of the Maze, their only chance of escape.
As for the writing style, It did have a different feel to it than other dystopian novels, which is great. However, it did feel a bit elementary at times. I also felt that the dialogue between the characters could have been a little sharper. But overall the writing style wasn't a huge problem for me.
As for the plot, I thought that it was well thought up. Their were plenty of suspenseful moments, especially when the characters were in the maze with the mechanical creatures called grievers. Chuck also backed this story up with comic relief through his creative pranks. Overall I found the plot to be satisfying.
CONCLUSION
I did enjoy this book, i just didn't love it. I would recommend this book to you, especially if you are a fan of the dystopian genre. I think that's all I have to say on Th Maze Runner by james Dashner. Thank you so much for reading and I will have another book review posted soon. XOXO Kat
